Anne Frank

So far in my novel Anne Frank, Anne is to stay in the attic along with her family for she is a jew.  Every non German person must be moved out/executed. In this diary any explains her feelings and thoughts about the holocaust going on and how it has affected her. Anne feels frightened, every time their is a noise downstairs she thinks it's the end for her and her family. She doesn't get along with her mother and is very close with her father.  She thinks of how grateful she is to be safe for now and looks for the best in her future.

In the book the main character is Anne.  She is a shy, obedient and intelligent. Before she had to hide from the Nazis she was a shy girl but everyone wanted to be her friend and liked her. She never disobeyed her parents and always followed what they said. While she is hiding she puts her free time to use by learning new things. She learns how to read in a different language studies math even if she doesn't like it.

In the Book Anne Frank always tells us how she and her mom don't get along with one another. They have different opinions and think of each other differently. Anne always explains how her mother always talks and looks at Margot way differently than she does at her. I think that this is happening because she doesn't know who to talk to about her misunderstandings with her mother. All she wants is to have a good relationship with her put they don't get along very well and she feels sad. This shows an Again and Again moment, because she always tells us how she feels about her mother not really paying attention or giving her any complements and watching her look at Margot a whole different way.

Holocaust Blog

In my opinion I think that many people stood by and watched the Holocaust take place because they were afraid. Afraid of what could happen to them if they intervened. Some stood up and resisted the Natzi's  because they knew that either way they would get killed and because it was just wrong. If I was in that case I would probably stand by because I would be protecting my self and family if I followed the rules. Any rebels were executed In the passage Jewish resistance it said that "The German and their auxiliaries killed most of the rebels."  In conclusion no matter how much I would want to help someone in need I wouldn't to protect my family and myself.

Elsewhere Summary

The book of Elsewhere is a mystery story by: Jacqueline West. In this story Olive along with her family move into an abounded house that is said to be haunted. At first she has no interest in the house and wishes to go back to where she lived. After a few days she starts discovering unique things around the house. She found a pair of spectacles that allowed her to see the painting around the house come to life. The first time she used them she went into a painting and found a boy named Morton. Morton told her that he had been trapped here by the bad man and talking cat. Olive felt intrigued, after Morton told her that she started to look for clues, and as she did she found her self betrayed by the only person she thought was on her side. As the story develops she becomes good friends with the three cats that used to belong to the person of the house and Morton. She has yet a lot of mysteries to discover and won't give up until she finds a solution on how to get Morton out of the painting for good.

In the book the main character (Olive) asks her self over and over who the bad man is. During the story the paintings always told her to go away for the bad man with get angry. Everyone seemed afraid of him. She discover the the "bad man" is actually Aldous McMartin the person that lived here before her family moved in. This question makes me wonder why was everyone so afraid of him?where the people in the paintings close to him or where they just paintings? As the story goes on she discovers that the only painting that was close to him was his granddaughter that was supposed to take him out a painting to live again once he died.

The Book of Elsewhere

So far in my book Elsewhere by: Jacqueline West takes place in an old abandoned house. In this house a lady died and it is said that it is haunted. Olive and her parents, move into the house and at first she thinks it is very antique and doesn't like it.  Olive decides to give the house a chance and starts to look around. In one room she finds a drawer with spectacles and gloves. At first she doesn't know what they're for put ends up finding out they are magical. With the spectacles she learns that the antique paintings have life inside them and she can actually go inside them. The first time she tried it out she met a boy inside. The boy said that he had been trapped by the bad man and talking cat. Intrigued she starts to look around the house to find clues about this "bad man".

The plot is still unraveled and so far my predictions towards the book are that maybe there are many secrets as to why their are moving paintings. Olive might find the reason as to why the boy was trapped in the painting, and why the spectacles allow her to go in the paintings. My second prediction is that the boy trapped in the painting might be able to get out and become human again. My strongest prediction is that Olive will find the secrets of the house and the magic behind them

Workers Rights Articles and Poems

The argument in the article "Bangladesh rescuer operation near end" is that the workers in a factory got trapped inside a building when the building collapsed.  The workers were trapped under the building with no water and food, they had injuries and some died. Reshma Begum a 19 years old Bangladeshi woman spent 17 days trapped under the factory. She describes what happened while being trapped "After ... much time I regained my senses and heard several voices (of other victims) around me who cried out and said please give me water ... I replied where shall I get water? I could not see anything as it was dark everywhere,".  I think that this issue is breaking the Human Right number #3 (You have the right to a free and safe life). It breaks it because employees should be able to go to work without worrying about major accidents. What I found very upsetting is that the government didn't do it's job to check this building and because of it innocent workers had to die/suffer.

The argument in the poem The Sweatshop argues of  a person who  is lost in a world where she is not a person but a machine. She kept chanting how she was lost and didn't know who she was. How she called herself a machine and that is all she is.  Reading a poem is different than reading an article because in the poem you can almost feel the emotions that the person is feeling rather than an article. This affected the meaning of my understanding because in the article it paints a picture in your mind and in a poem you feel the emotions of the person writing it.

Happy Halloween!

In my book Torment by Lauren Kate Luce has finally gotten the courage to stand up to the shadows that have been tormenting her since she was young. She learns that they are called Announcers  and that if you stand up to them the obey you. Once you shows them no fear they can transport you to different places and show you things from your past. With this new discovery she learns that she can finally see what really happened to her back then. But she notices one thing that by Daniel  putting her in the school she  can cause the others great harm. But at least she can find out about her past and why this time she hasn't died yet.
In my opinion the genre of this books is fantasy. What I like about the book is that you don't really know what is going to happen next and it's suspenseful.  What I don't like about this book is that their is a lot of mystery and conflicts which never get resolved in one chapter only. What I really like about this book is that their love still remains strong no matter what is really happening around them. In conclusion people should really read it if they wanted to read a story with mystery and love.

Torment

The book I am reading is called Torment by Lauren Kate. Daniel hides Luce in a school far away from Sword & Cross.  He tries to protect her by not getting her involved. But leaves her unprotected of herself. While Daniel is off fighting demons Luce is discovering things about her past that are really mysterious. They meet from time to time but they are mostly apart. Luce makes new friends and her family doesn't know what is really happening to her. She keeps everything a secret and tries to discover things on her own.  In my opinion this book is a very mysterious which is why so many people are attracted to it.  I would recommend this book for the people who love fiction because it will get you trapped inside and leave you wanting more.

One conflict in my story is that Luce is facing and internal conflict. She is conflicted on her life how she once thought her life was ordinary. Now she has a boyfriend who is an angel and off fighting demons and dark angels that she thought didn't exist. She is also facing the problem with her parents. They don't know she changed schools or what is happening to her. She never liked lying but know she is faced with the occasion. The theme is "don't always believe what the others tell you". This is the theme because she hears one thing from Daniel, and discovers a whole different thing on her own. She discovers one piece of her past that is different than what Daniel told her had happened.

Call Of Duty

In the article "Call Of Duty" I thought that Jose was right about wanting to keep his dog. This dog had been with him from the start they went through bad and good things together. Why take that awesome pair apart. Now that he was injured he should have been able to keep the dog through his recovery. He shouldn't have to fight for the dog because after all he was the one risking his life for the people around him. The biggest favor the congress could have done was give him his dog for comfort. I think that any soldier who works with a dog in a dangerous place or situation should be able to keep it as a get well gift.

The Fault In Our Stars

I am reading the book, “The fault in our stars” and so far I have learned that it doesn't matter how sick you are of life their is always one person who can cheer you up with one smile. Hazel Graze is a girl who can't berate well. She has to carry a tank everywhere. She meets Augustus Waters who shows her how to love and like the world around her. He shows her hope in a limited amount of days. They have their ups and downs put they show each other and others how if you have hope in one another you can live well. Even though they are sick they try to act as normal as possible.  They finally  realize that this is their one and last love.

The point of view is First Person. I know this because the story is mainly about Hazel. It describes the story on what she feels or thinks. "A few days later, at Gus's house, his parents and my parents and Gus and me all squeezed around around the dining table, eating stuffed peppers on a tablecloth that had, according to Gus's dad, last seen in the previous century." I do enjoy reading a first person Point of view because it describes and shows what the main character is feeling and thinking. It makes you understand the story according to what the main character thinks. You can picture and feel what he or she is feeling. I would like to read in another point of view too see the difference it would make in a story.

Fallen Summary

In my book Fallen by Lauren Kate there is a lot of mystery and romance. In this story Luce is goes to a school where they send all the kids who have done bad things. Ever since she was young Luce has always seen these dark shadows following her everywhere. Her parents though that she was going crazy as soon as they sent her to see a sociologist, she decided to tell her parents she wasn't seeing them no more. Every time the shadows appeared something bad would happen to her or the people around her. The first day she shows up at the school Luce feels a weird attraction towards Daniel. She gets these weird dreams about him and her as if they were memories. As the story unfolds she learns that she reincarnates every 18 years and falls in love with the same person again and again.

In my story the main character is Luce. She is a shy type of girl who always tries to help the people  around her. She never wants to hurt peoples feeling and likes to always say the truth. She also likes to speak her feeling and thoughts. When she is curious she won't stop until she finds out what she wanted know. Luce changed throughout the book because she stopped trusting people easily and stopped speaking her mind to those who seemed somewhat suspicious to her.

"Treasure of Lemon Brown"

The "Treasure of Lemon Brown" was an inspiring story, about a young boy named Greg who meets a homeless guys whose most valued treasure is a harmonica and newspaper. Lemon Brown used to be famous for his music. When his son died his music died with it too. Greg's dad would give him lectures and wouldn't let him join the basketball team. After hearing Lemon Brown's story he felt foolish for getting annoyed with his father's lectures, and saw his dad in a whole different way.

Evermore Summary

My book Evermore, by Alyson Noel, was the best fiction book anyone could read. It has mystery and romance mixed together. Which leads you to wanting to know what is going to happen next. As they get closer she discover she and Damian are not as normal as others think they are.
